What is a Verruca?

A Verruca is a wart that occurs on the sole of the foot. They may appear flatter, and be pushed into the foot causing pain when standing and walking.

Treating Verrucae depends their size, the quantity, whether they are deep in the skin, how long they have been present and how close they are to bone prominences. Your Podiatrist should be able to explain to you if Verruca is routine, or if it’s at all complicated.

How do we treat them?

-Advice on over the counter medication

-Chemical treatment

-Cryotherapy

-Needling

Each therapy will be considered depending on how invasive it is. Your Podiatrist will make sure you understand each treatment approach and the risks associated with them. It is common to begin treatment with less invasive options first, and consider more invasive options in the future if necessary.
