Treatment for Sports injuries at Body Zest- Banstead

Sports injuries often have a set protocol for rest, rehab and returning to sport. Our Sports Therapy and Osteopathy team are on hand to help you every step of the way!

Firstly, an accurate diagnosis is essential. During your examination, your therapist will decide whether the injury can be diagnosed in clinic, or if you need a scan. If you need a scan, we’ll help you with a referral, to make sure you see the right person as quickly as possible.

Once the scan is complete, or if we feel confident to diagnose the injury in clinic, will will advice you on the first steps to take. This often includes RICE (rest, ice, compress, elevate) to reduce any inflammation. Your Osteopath or Sports Therapist can also decide whether strapping/support is needed in these initial stages.

The next phase of rehab often focuses on supporting the injured area as it recovers. Restoring full range of motion and limiting any build up of tension is essential. We use hands-on techniques to achieve these outcomes, which includes soft-tissue therapy and joint manipulation as well as exercise prescription.

Once pain is at a certain level and range of motion is restored, we will begin helping you to build up strength in the affected area- with exercise therapy. We use up-to-date physio software to prescribe exercises and support patients during this phase.

Finally, your Therapist will help you with returning to sport. This will include advice and a plan for how to begin lightly and build up to playing at 100% again.
