Treatment for Lower-back pain at Body Zest- Banstead

Osteopathy

If you see one of our Osteopaths for lower-back pain, we will look at the way your lower-back moves, in relation to the other areas of your body. Lower-back pain can often be affected by more than just what’s going on in the lower-back itself. It is often affected by your mid-back, hips and other areas.

Your Osteopath will make sure there is an accurate diagnosis for the lower-back pain, before beginning treatment. Sometimes we will refer our patients for a scan if we think this is needed, to get an accurate diagnosis. Treatment can consist of soft tissue therapy, joint manipulation, exercise prescription and many other things.

Sports Therapy

There are a huge number of factors which affect lower-back pain. Many of them can be treated and improved, but this can sometimes take time. Sports massage is a great option for fast relief for lower-back pain and can help to stop things getting worse.

Muscles often tighten and become sore, stopping people doing activity. When lower-back pain stops you being active, this only makes things worse! Joints and muscles tighten in response to inactivity. Sports therapy will help to loosen those muscles in the lower-back off fast- giving you a chance to move freely and begin recovering.

Acupuncture

Our Acupuncturist may deal with your lower-back pain differently to our Osteopath. Acupuncture focuses on helping the body self-heal, by reducing blocks in it’s natural flow of energy. Many people find Acupuncture very helpful for lower-back pain, as it will affect the blood flow and nerve input into the affected area to relieve pain. Acupuncture is also good for lower-back pain that has become Chronic. Understanding the emotional relationship to pain can be a very powerful tool. Acupuncture will help you understand and let go of anything which may be causing ongoing tension and stress, improving general wellness and helping lower-back pain itself.

Podiatry/Chiropody

It is not unusual for lower-back pain to be affected by flat feet or ankle dysfunction. Our expert Podiatrist can tell you whether you are compensating using his gait analysis plate and other specialised equipment. We often see dysfunction in the foot or ankles beginning to affect the knees, hips and lower-back. Understanding the cause of your lower-back pain is incredibly valuable when trying to discover long-term solutions for the problem. Our Podiatrist may be able to prescribe insoles or orthotics which begin to reduce the impact of the foot or ankle on the rest of the body.
