What's the difference between an Osteopath and a Chiropractor?
This is the most common question we get asked.
And honestly, it depends!
Osteopaths and Chiropractors complete a similar course of training and have some crossover in techniques and principles to treatment.
However, if we’re forced to generalise, Chiropractors now choose to focus more on spinal adjustments (clicks) and spinal mobility than Osteopaths do.
However, you could see a Chiro who doesn’t click, and an Osteo who does. So, it’s not a rule, it’s just a generalisation.
Osteopaths can also vary greatly between practitioners. As is the case with physiotherapists, chiropractors and many other professionals.
So, until you’ve seen the two practitioners you want to compare, it’s very hard to say. What we can say is, our Osteopaths will never perform a spinal adjustment on any patient who is not sure about that treatment. We’ll always have an honest conversation with you first, to make sure you’re happy. There are lots of alternatives to those techniques, which are just as impactful for restore movement in joints.
